Akkök Holding owns leading companies in their respective sectors. Its growth strategy is anticipated to be influenced by the European Green Deal through key areas such as carbon trading, access to green financing, clean energy, circular economy, and strategies for textiles and chemicals, along with sustainable product initiatives.

In line with its sustainability priorities, in 2022, Akkök Holding established a task force comprised of authorized experts from its chemical subsidiary companies, including Akcoat, Akgirişim, Akiş GYO, Akkim, Aksa, Akenerji, DowAksa, Sepaş Enerji, SEDAŞ, and Yalkim, through a Board of Directors appointment. This task force, named the Green Strategy Group, aims to define a roadmap for compliance with the Green Deal and to review management strategies.

The Green Strategy Group aims to strengthen collaboration among Akkök Holding group companies in areas such as sustainability, circular economy, clean energy, and climate change adaptation, led by Akkim. It holds regular meetings to monitor priority issues and presents progress reports and strategic recommendations to the company’s senior management.

The main focus areas for the roadmap towards long-term sustainability strategies and decisions include efficient use of resources, corporate ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) risks, carbon reduction targets, monitoring decarbonization technologies, approval of carbon footprint reduction targets under the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), transition to alternative energy sources, conversion/replacement of current energy sources with renewable ones, circular economy, and sustainable product initiatives, and taxonomy.
