As the first electricity generation company established in Turkey with the status of an autoproducer group, Akenerji, with over 30 years of experience in the sector, is an integrated energy company engaged not only in electricity production but also in wholesale energy trading.

The synergy between Akkök Holding and the Czech energy company ČEZ transformed into an equal partnership in Akenerji following an agreement signed in October 2008. Akenerji has focused on investments in renewable energy sources since 2005 to achieve resource diversification in production. It has commissioned a total of 320 MW of renewable energy-based production capacity through gradually operational wind and hydroelectric power plants. With the commissioning of the Erzin Natural Gas Combined Cycle Power Plant in July 2014, Akenerji reached a total installed capacity of 1224 MW, capable of meeting approximately 3% of Turkey’s energy needs on its own. The Erzin Natural Gas Combined Cycle Power Plant, one of Turkey’s largest natural gas plant investments with a capacity of 904 MW, is among the most significant projects of the Akkök-CEZ strategic partnership in Akenerji. Launched in the third quarter of 2014, the Erzin Natural Gas Combined Cycle Power Plant plays a crucial role in meeting Turkey’s energy needs with its annual average electricity production capacity of 7.4 TWh, targeting high efficiency with an environmentally friendly approach.

With the Kemah Hydroelectric Power Plant, which is in the investment phase and expected to produce an average of 560 GWh of electricity per year upon completion, Akenerji will not only strengthen its renewable resource portfolio but also significantly contribute to Turkey’s energy production independently.
