Industrialist Raif Din\u00e7k\u00f6k was among the elected members of the first Assembly of the Istanbul Chamber of Industry (ICI) convened on May 30, 1952. From the early periods, he served on the executive boards and held the presidency of the Istanbul Chamber of Industry’s Board of Directors from 1956 to 1960. Raif Din\u00e7k\u00f6k, who contributed the chamber’s current historic central building, served as the “Dean of the Istanbul Chamber of Industry” from the initial term until his passing in 1994.<\/p>

In the memories of his colleagues and close friends, Raif Din\u00e7k\u00f6k is remembered not only for his contributions to the Istanbul Chamber of Industry but also for his efforts towards the development of Turkey’s private sector industry. During the Balkan Wars, Raif Din\u00e7k\u00f6k’s family migrated from the region around Lake Dojran, now situated between Greece and North Macedonia, to Turkey. Born in Thessaloniki in 1912<\/strong>, after completing his education at the Commercial High School in Istanbul, Raif Din\u00e7k\u00f6k embarked on a career in commerce in 1934, following in his father’s professional footsteps.<\/p>

Originally from a well-known and affluent family in the city of Dojran, the Din\u00e7k\u00f6ks moved in a large group to \u0130zmir initially. While part of the family settled in \u0130zmir and adopted the surname Dojran, Raif’s grandfather, Ali Bey, along with his wife and children, relocated to Istanbul. Grandfather Ali Bey started his venture into contract work and commerce in Istanbul and adopted the surname Din\u00e7k\u00f6k in 1934. He constructed the “Din\u00e7k\u00f6k” apartment building in the Laleli district, where he lived until his passing.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Between 1934 and 1943, Raif Din\u00e7k\u00f6k pursued commercial and contracting activities in Ankara. In 1943, he moved to Istanbul and commenced trading in yarn and fabric<\/b> in Sultanhamam. Known among his fellow merchants for his honesty, seriousness, and dignified personality, Din\u00e7k\u00f6k was often sought out to act as an arbitrator in disputes among businessmen due to his respected opinion.<\/p>

During his years in the textile trade, Din\u00e7k\u00f6k also ventured into contract weaving manufacturing, gradually realizing his vision of industrialism. Following World War II, efforts to develop the private sector in Turkey began to bear fruit, with a rapid increase in the number of private sector industrial facilities. Among these pioneering entrepreneurs was Raif Din\u00e7k\u00f6k, who not only contributed to the establishment of the Istanbul Chamber of Industry but also founded the Aksu Yarn Weaving Factory in Bak\u0131rk\u00f6y on October 1, 1952. Recognizing the importance of investment and production for the national economy, Din\u00e7k\u00f6k, in later years, established facilities such as Ari\u015f, Dinarsu, Aksa, Ak-Al, Ak-Kim, Ak-Tops, and Akenerji, alongside his sons and professional teams.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

With exceptional dialogue skills and leadership qualities, Din\u00e7k\u00f6k placed great importance on social activities, holding memberships in professional organizations as well as numerous social entities. In addition to his involvement in foundations and associations, he presided over the B\u00fcy\u00fck Kul\u00fcp (Grand Club) Association for 15 years. His interest in sports was embodied through his fervent support and roles within the Fenerbah\u00e7e Sports Club Board of Directors<\/b> and the High Advisory Board.<\/p>

Remembered by his professional colleagues for basing human relations on honesty and humility, Din\u00e7k\u00f6k was keen on leading by making people love their work. He was a manager who valued teamwork highly, had strong intuition, and knew how to influence others. Known for being extremely serious, disciplined, and hardworking in his life, Din\u00e7k\u00f6k was an attentive listener in meetings, chose his words carefully in speech, and made the most efficient and effective decisions through listening.
